With a similar principle to PhotoShop, this system allows users tocreate designs on a number of layers, which can be turned on and off, whilst designing. To find the best texture for the body, ArtCAMs patent-ed relief layering system was utilised. The feathers were alsoĪllowed to overlap the edges of the 2D drawing. To create natu-ral looking feathers, the scale of the feather wasaltered according to its position along the vector, thusmaking them smaller around the peacocks neck andlarger towards to base. The feather so it would blend nicely once the designwas repeated across the body.Īfterwards, a vector was drawn, which would deter-mine the direction that the feathers would appear onthe body using the Texture Flow tool. We then used ArtCAMs Smooth sculpting tool on the bottom of This tool allows the designer to specify a shape, as well as its height, angle and howthis interacts with the rest of the relief. To create the feathers, a small feather outline was drawn and using the Shape Editor height and shapewere added to it. Unlike other texture creation tools with-in ArtCAM Pro, Texture Flow has been designed specifically to make organic 2D and 3D shapes andpatterns such as hair, fur, scales and feathers. Next feathers were added onto the peacocks body using ArtCAMs introductory 3D modelling tool, theShape Editor and the new patent pending Texture Flow tool. Thesewere used by the Two Rail Sweep tool to swiftly createa 3D shape. Two more vectorswere then drawn representing the cross section or 3Dshape of the neck and the base of the body. Using oneof ArtCAMs many drawing tools two lines (vectors)were drawn to represent its sides. The first part to be modelled was the body. The advantage of this is that these pieces can be saved in a high resolution /detail and then scaled down for other design projects. It can also be expanded to include adesigners own pieces.
